Characteristics of Waste Oil-rejuvenated RAP Bitumen: An Experimental Study

نویسندگان

چکیده

In recent years, Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) has become very popular in pavement construction due to its benefits the economy and environment. The present study investigates feasibility of employing Waste Cooking Oil (WCO) Engine (WEO) as rejuvenators blended with reusable asphalt binder through physical rheological properties at high intermediate temperatures. Examined conventional WCO-and WEO-modified bitumen include softening point, penetration, ductility viscosity. addition these properties, they also Amplitude Sweep, Frequency Multiple Stress Creep Recovery (MSCR), Linear Sweep (LAS) High-temperature Performance Grading (HTPG) tests carried out by Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR). experimental outcomes revealed that both WCO WEO could reduce deformation resistance improve stiffness, workability viscous behavior aged bitumen. Moreover, waste oils improves fatigue lives rejuvenated enhance cracking resistance, but cost rutting resistance. Overall, performs better restoring stiff than per testing. KEYWORDS: shear rheometer (DSR), (RAP), Rejuvenators, cooking oil (WCO), engine (WEO).

Comparative Study of Eva and Waste Polymer Modified Bitumen

Polymer-modified bitumen is used to combat different pavement distresses and to increase the life span of pavement. Unmodified bitumen cannot perform better with the range extreme minimum and maximum pavement temperatures. The polymers commonly used to modify the bitumen are ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) styrene butadiene styrene (SBS). The aim this study to compare the performance of EVA modifi...

Analysis of the Relationships between Waste Cooking Oil Qualities and Rejuvenated Asphalt Properties

Waste cooking oil (WCO), in many cases, can rejuvenate aged asphalt and restore its properties. However, the influence of WCO qualities on rejuvenation behaviors of aged asphalt has not been investigated in detail. The objective of this paper was to evaluate the effects of WCO viscosity and acid value on the basic, rheological, and chemical properties of a typical rejuvenated asphalt. Penetrati...

Characterization of Bitumen Mixed with Plastic Waste

Plastic (Polyethylene Terephthalate, PET) is now used as packaging material for a whole range of consumer products in addition to carbonated beverages. Although plastics are very useful product, but the disposal of these wastes has become a problem and is of great concern, particularly in our country. One of the solutions to the disposal of plastic wastes is recycling it...

Investigation of the possibility of using waste cooking oil as a rejuvenating agent for aged bitumen.

The ageing of the bitumen during storage, mixing, transport and laying on the road, as well as in service life, are the most important problems presented by the use of bitumen in pavements. This paper investigates the possibility of using waste cooking oil (WCO), which is a waste material that pollutes landfills and rivers, as an alternative natural rejuvenating agent for aged bitumen to a cond...

Rheological properties of modified Bitumen: Comparison of waste polymers’ performance

In this investigation, rheological properties of three different polymer-modified bitumen compounds containing recycled polyethylene terephthalate (R-PET), crumb rubber (CR) and poly (styrene-butadiene-styrene) (SBS) are evaluated and compared. The modified samples were tested by a dynamic shear rheometer (DSR) where complex modulus (G*), phase angle (δ) and rutting resistance (G*/Sinδ) of spec...
